A second generation entrepreneur, Prashant Jhawar is the son of noted industrialist Mr. B K. Jhawar, one of the founders of Usha Martin Group having diversified interests in steel, wire ropes, telecom and IT products and services.

Mr. Jhawar joined the family business in 1982 as a trainee in the purchase and sales departments of the wire ropes division of Usha Martin Ltd. He has been centrally involved in every aspect of the company’s management since 1994 and has provided leadership to both the old and new economy divisions of the business.

In the years that he has been at the helm of the Usha Martin Group, Mr. Jhawar is credited with having pioneered a number of path-breaking financial innovations within the Group. In 1994, he founded Usha Communications Technology (www.ushacomm.com), the world’s leading provider of Business Support Systems (BSS) for fixed, mobile, broadband/IP, and cable and satellite markets. He is currently the Executive Chairman of UshaComm, an ISO 9001:2000 certified venture and the first billing vendor to receive the coveted CMM Level 4 quality certification. In 1995 Mr. Jhawar founded Usha Martin Telekom Ltd., a GSM Cellular Network in Kolkata in partnership with Telekom Malaysia and other international investors. The partners backed him to lead a trade sale of this venture to Hutchison Wampoha of Hong Kong in July 2000.

As the Chairman of the Usha Martin Group, Mr. Jhawar has won recognition for his contribution to industry and for professionalizing management within the Group. He is Chairman of Usha Breco, Usha Martin Finance, Ushacomm, Eppixcomm, Usha Breco Realty, Billscutter Limited and the Director of Converso Contact Centres and Bonsai Wireless.

Born on 6th April ,1963, Mr. Jhawar was raised in Kolkata but is currently based in London. He and his wife, Anupama, have two children, Anupriya and Apurv.
